The Sunlight Foundation
I came across the Sunlight Foundation today while checking out Programmable Web’s rss feed. Looks like a nice portal into the world of government oversight.

2008 Elections
There are so many political views represented by this year’s candidates. We have Libertarians, Populists, Conservatives, Liberals, and Capitalists. They believe in free markets, smaller government, socialized medicine, preemptive military action, leaving the middle east for good, tax cuts, tax raises, tax reform, sending illegal immigrants home, and letting immigrants be a key part of our economy.
Who’s right? Which way is best? These are loaded questions. The views have their merits and their flaws. What’s good for some is not so good for others. No matter what direction we take, there will be corruption. No matter what direction we take, promises will not be delivered. No matter what direction we take, change will happen along the way.
I want to know if the candidate walks the walk. Does the candidate’s past record back their campaign message? How much legislation has the candidate pushed through? When the candidate votes down a piece of legislation, why?
govtrack.us is a great site for finding out what Congress actually does. This page lists the “stats” for the current presidential candidates. Check it out and see if you favorite walks the walk.
